Information on subscribing and unsubscribing to the ARL mailing list

There are two methods for accessing the ARL mailing list:

PREFERRED - Subscribe to the 'spacerobots' mailing list managed by the Stanford majordomo list server

Read the 'streaming' messages by including the line 'arl -fpo' in your .login_commands file

Using the Stanford list server (Preferred)

Subscribing to the list server

To join the list, send email to majordomo@lists.stanford.edu with the message (no subject needed or processed):

subscribe spacerobots

or click on this link to have it all filled in for you.

This method is preferred over the 'arl -fpo' login method because replies and forwards are easier to perform, attachments are possible, and emails can be saved for later use. The login method may be preferable if you would want to check messages only intermittently, or if you have something against having lab emails coming into your Inbox.

Unsubscribing from the list server

To get off the list, send email to majordomo@lists.stanford.edu with the message (no subject needed or processed):

unsubscribe spacerobots

or click on this link to have it all filled in for you.

Using the ARL login method

You must have an account on the sun-valley system to see the ARL messages at login.

Subscribing to the messages at login

Put the line

arl -fpo

in your .login_commands file in your root directory -- if you have the typical ARL format for this file, there is a section titled "Read the various message boards" where this command should go.

Unsubscribing from the messages at login

Put a # sign in front of the "arl -fpo" line in your .login_commands file in your root directory.
