In recent months, we have tightened up the access to the ARL computing resources in an effort to enforce computer security. Specifically, we have removed all services which rely on clear text passwords, because these enable even casual hackers easy, unauthorized access to our system. In their place, we have put new resources which are more secure. This page describes how to set up your computer systems to get access to sun-valley using these non-standard resources.
The intent is to collect a number of documents which explain how to accomplish various tasks. Also, we will provide some software that you may find useful. There are a ton of questions we are not answering. If you can't find what you need, send e-mail to consult@sun-valley.stanford.edu.
Future sections will describe "secure" pop mail, and other how-to's. Remind me if you are waiting for something in particular.
